HI all! I just wanted to share how JOA came about and I hope this inspires someone to take a leap in faith. Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails. Proverbs 19:21
Have you ever been in a place in your life where you feel like you are doing all the right things, whether it is pursuing a degree in college, thriving at your corporate job, going to church, being good to people etc., but still feel unfulfilled?
I remember a time in my life where I was in that position. I pursued many things — with the wrong motivation. I wanted to become a doctor to gain wealth. My father desperately wanted to say that his daughter has that title. I also pursued a degree in the wrong things, not once, but twice. My plans looked great on paper, but they failed at awakening my God given passion and lacked that feeling of fulfillment.
True fulfillment can only be found by experiencing life with God. It is during this encounter that he reveals his plan for your life that will bring fulfillment. You will never feel fully satisfied unless you are operating in your full purpose and assignment on this earth.
One dark day while meditating, God gave me an idea to quit my safe but unsatisfactory job and start my own business. When God gave me that instruction I laughed. Though I didn’t like the state of my life at the time, I had grown grossly comfortable with my dissatisfaction. However, I knew if I wanted a change, I would have to change.
So…
Entrepreneurship: the activity of setting up a business or businesses, taking on financial risks in the hope of profit.
Seantal, the risk taker. I smiled at the thought. I always dreamed of living on the edge. But who was I kidding — that was not a part of my personality at the time — safe and secure was always my resolve. The idea of putting myself out there brought me great fear, but I had nothing to lose. My other plans failed, so I thought, if I am going to leap, I might as well plunge.
I swallowed my fears and obeyed. Today I am operating in a passion of mine full-time. I now run a profitable business, I have had 5 figure client contracts, and have acquired many opportunities to work with clients internationally (India, Australia, Canada etc.). I have become the woman who takes too many risks, have too much faith, over confident in my business ventures and UNSTOPPABLE grrr... (well, I try to be.)
I am happy God gifted me with JOA. I absolutely enjoy hearing people's vision and ideas and I do my best to bring those ideas to life. Each client reminds me of that very time I myself had to take a leap of faith and start something new. That's what drives me.
If you asked me a couple of years ago, if I envisioned myself being a full-time entrepreneur (marketer/ web developer), I would have said…nah. My dream as mentioned above, was totally different. However, my passion was only revealed to me by God, when I sat in his presence.
I am a strong believer that when God created each of us, he equipped us with everything we need to succeed in this life (personality, gifts, skills and all). But in order for us to be aware of that call, we have to trust that our steps are being ordered by him, be obedient to his instructions and make space to hear his voice about ourselves.
I didn’t choose entrepreneurship, it chose me — literally. I am grateful I obeyed his voice and took that leap. If God is prompting you to take a leap in regards to something, I encourage you to take that leap in faith. He is faithful and he rewards obedience. His plan for your life is much greater, and it will give you great satisfaction.
